Why a Carnival ?

For sometime Heathfield has been without a Carnival, it was a thriving event in the 90's and it’s time it came back!

Heathfield & Waldron Rotary with the help of several organisations notably the Parish Council, Demelza House in 2008 and St Wilfrids Hospice this year put it back on the map on Saturday 28th June 2008 and again on Saturday 18th July 2009 - this year Sautrday 26th June 2010.

Both charities Demelza and St Wilfrids have been excellent in their support. The sheer professionalism, impetus and drive from the St Wilfrids team has taken the lead and proved to be a partnership that will grow for this and other events ~ so watch this space. All our proceeds go to Charity causes through our partner organisation and through Heathfield & Waldron Rotary Club.

The Great Day !

Both occasions have been a fun and enthusiastic dayand this year starting at 1:00pm with a Carnival Procession from Crown Yard down and through the High Street, up Mill Road and on to the Community Centre in Sheepsetting Lane.

Disembarkation from all the Carnival floats takes place here to take part in an afternoon and evening of fun and games with side stalls, shows, cream teas, junior disco, and a whole range of organsations from horticultural societies, drama groups, dog training, to flower shows and gymnastics.

The Procession & Floats...

The procession consists of several themed floats, Heathfield Silver Band, Tri-Star Twirlers, Batucada Band, plus other musically flavoured participants, a vintage car, ATV's and even a steam engine or two!

This year we include Sheiks Delight, a well known 'Belly Dancing' Troupe they will grace our high street with a beautiful display of dancing. My nerves were on edge, not bcause of the dancing, but the hold up to the traffic on an main 'A' Class road! Anyway it all went smoothly.

Community & Traders...

We want you, the traders and the community to join in, be part of it with your own fund raising and promotional event. Organise your own float, style your shop window, choose whatever theme you like, be there for a packed afternoon of visitors and locals all potentially a customer for your business or charity cause.

Rotary will be bringing other attractions including the ‘Rotary Roadshow’ where you can find out what Rotary does. St Wilfrids, Demelza House and RNLI will all have signpost displays in the high street or at the community centre.

We anticipate several thousand visitors to Heathfield again in 2010, lets make it a fun day to remember, and if all goes to plan – do it again the following year!

Hope to see you all again Next Year!
